Mexico receives more fines from FIFA for homophobic chant

In news that shouldn’t be surprising, Mexico received another fine from FIFA for homophobic chants in the Mexico-Honduras game on September 6th. The fine (30K Swiss Francs) is the third straight fine the Mexican federation has received from playing games at home. FIFA has already banned Chile's National stadium for the home game against Venezuela in March for similar acts.

FMF officials had recently expressed the idea that the altitude in Mexico City has been affecting Mexican players based in Europe and their might be a need to move the national games out of the Azteca. While the majority of fans have been critical of a move and have cast doubts on the reasons for it, this new fine and the possibility of a ban will definitely increase the chances of a move away from the Azteca as soon as the hexagonal starts.
