Manchester City left-back Benjamin Mendy will miss up to three months of action after knee surgery, Pep Guardiola has confirmed.
Mendy underwent surgery at Dr Ramon Cugat's Barcelona surgery during the international break, and returned to Manchester to continue his recuperation on Thursday.
The France international felt a problem with the meniscus cartilage in his left leg during City's 3-1 victory over Manchester United and was advised to go under the knife.
City confirmed the procedure over a week ago but no official timeline was put on the 24-year-old's recovery.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, however, Guardiola revealed that Mendy will not be back in action until the start of next year.
