Memphis Depay’s arrival at FC Barcelona will probably be announced soon, as has been rumored for a long time, but it still has not yet happened. Even coach Ronald Koeman publicly stated that Depay was on the verge of signing, but yet, still no official announcement.
The reason for this? Koeman’s successor as Netherlands coach, Frank de Boer.
That’s because De Boer has apparently instructed his players to avoid distractions as his team prepares to face Austria in the European Championship. Depay was a starter in the Netherlands’ opening 3-2 win over Ukraine, and De Boer wants him fully concentrated on his national team duties.
