Lazio will attempt an audacious move to lure Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger to Rome, per Il Corriere dello Sport (h/t Archie Vaughan Williams of Gazzetta World).
The 32-year-old has been made surplus to requirements at Old Trafford under new manager Jose Mourinho, after the Portuguese revealed a list of nine players he deemed unwanted, per Joe Bernstein of MailOnline.
Schweinsteiger has now been offered a speedy exit from Manchester, with the Italian capital club willing to offer the retired Germany international first-team football in a move not dissimilar to their 2011 coup in capturing his compatriot Miroslav Klose.
