Manchester United remain keen on extending the contract of wantaway goalkeeper David De Gea after the 24-year-old’s move to Real Madrid collapsed on Monday, and they will begin reintegrating him back into the side upon his return from international duty.
According to Ruben Jimenez of Marca, De Gea has been “greatly affected” by his move to the Spanish capital falling through at the last possible second and will have to go back to United, where he’s had to “put up with harsh comments from Van Gaal and insults from those who have been his loyal supporters over the past four years.
