LONDON — Manchester United, one of the world’s biggest soccer clubs, announced on Thursday that its interim manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, would take over on a permanent basis, three months after José Mourinho was ousted.

“Ole’s at the wheel!” the club posted on Twitter.

Solskjaer, 46, a former striker from Norway who played for the club and was appointed as caretaker manager in December, when Mourinho was let go, has signed a three-year contract, the club said in a statement.

“From the first day I arrived, I felt at home at this special club,” Solskjaer said in the statement.
