Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio underwent successful surgery on the anterior cruciate ligament and lateral meniscus in his left knee.
Asensio ruptured his ACL and external meniscus in a blow to Madrid's season in the International Champions Cup clash with Arsenal last month.
The 23-year-old suffered the injury after coming on as a second-half substitute in Madrid's penalty shoot-out victory at FedExField in Maryland.

"The operation was carried out by doctor Manuel Leyes, under the supervision of the Real Madrid medical services," a Madrid statement read. "Asensio will remain in hospital until he is well enough to be discharged.
