LIVERPOOL, England -- Three thoughts on West Ham's stunning 3-0 victory at Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
1. A nightmare for Liverpool
When examining a shock result, you must decide whether it was the favourites playing particularly badly or the underdogs excelling. It's always a blend of both, of course, but here it was primarily the former.
West Ham defended perfectly well, but they offered little attacking threat, and their two goals came almost out of nothing.
The opener arrived after a throw-in down West Ham's right. Dimitri Payet's right-wing cross was headed away by Martin Skrtel; Aaron Cresswell collected the ball on the edge of the box and dragged a cross-shot into the path of Manuel Lanzini, who turned the ball home.
