Liverpool will take a 1-0 lead into the second leg of their Capital One Cup semifinal after overcoming Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.
But the win did not come without a cost as Philippe Countinho, Dejan Lovren and Kolo Toure suffered hamstring injuries.
Liverpool started the game exceptionally well and had Stoke on the back foot, Roberto Firmino leading the charge and peppering the home side's goal.
But Liverpool lost Countinho to a hamstring injury after just 18 minutes, with Jordon Ibe coming on in his place.
And Ibe soon tested goalkeeper Jack Butland, though it was a regulation save.
