Under the relatively new tutelage of Danny Blind, the Oranje have to take a step back and evaluate the squad from top to bottom. The coach, despite calls for his head, is tasked with guiding the Dutch through this dark period and refreshing their approach as they begin preparing for Russia 2018. There are some difficult decisions to come in what can only be described as a transition period with a large gap between the aging members of the golden generation and the young, Eredivisie talent.
