- 13' Vargas tries his luck from a free kick along the right flank, and his effort isn't all that bad. Despite the acute angle, the left-back makes for a few worrying moments for Villar who is relieved to see the ball crash onto the roof of the net.
- 11' Play is starting to open up a bit after a rather tedious opening 10 minutes. Paraguay push forward and win themselves a corner, though it's dealt with well by Peru who then can break on the counter. Reyna makes a run forward but doesn't get the ball and then the attempted switch for Carrillo is cut out well by Vargas.
