Lionel Messi Makes Huge Donation to Unicef on Live TV in Argentina

Lionel Messi turned up on television in his homeland to make a donation of 4,500,000 Argentine pesos (approximately $488,000) to UNICEF.

The 28-year-old superstar sent his best wishes in a brief video link-up at the Un Sol Para Los Chicos campaign and presented a cheque for what amounted to £315,000.

According to Eurosport:

Messi said in the video, which was shown on the screens of Argentina’s Luna Park, “It’s a pleasure to be with you all through this video, collaborating with the people of UNICEF.”

The 28-year-old is a UN goodwill ambassador.
