The club announced Messi will undergo further testing on his leg on Monday. Arda Turan replaced him in the eventual 6-0 win for Barcelona.

"He had some slight discomfort. With the upcoming games we preferred not to risk. On Monday he undergo more tests," said manager Luis Enrique after the match.

Messi has already had injury problems this season, having torn his internal collateral ligament earlier in the campaign and missing two months of action as a result; the Argentina captain also suffered with renal colic at the 2015 FIFA Club World Cup in December.
