Rayados de Monterrey’s Rogelio Funes Mori was named Liga Bancomer MX Player of the Week for Jornada 4 by a poll of Liga MX English-language writers and broadcasters.
Despite a match drenched with both controversy and rain, Funes Mori had two goals in Monterrey’s 3-2 win against Club América, including the game winner in the 70th minute.
In the second half of an official game-turned-scrimmage of nine on nine, Funes Mori gave Monterrey the lead after booting a dagger into the corner of Agustin Marchesin’s net.
Two minutes later, Funes Mori received the ball in the area on an assist from Edson Gutierrez and cut inside twice, defenders falling all around him, before again beating Marchesin in thrilling fashion.
