Barcelona set a new record by extending their unbeaten run in La Liga to 39 games after winning 2-1 against Valencia at the Camp Nou on Saturday.
The result has also put the Blaugrana 14 points clear at the top, before second-placed Atletico Madrid host Levante on Sunday.
At the other end of the table, Deportivo La Coruna gave their fading hopes of avoiding relegation a boost with a dramatic 3-2 win over Athletic Bilbao at San Mames Stadium. Adrian Lopez was the two-goal hero for Depor, who are still five points short of safety.
The day also saw a bad-tempered game between Sevilla and Villarreal end 2-2 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.
