Barcelona’s Ronald Koeman was given the reigns to the club for the second time this offseason. He was given the old “vote of confidence” from Laporta after a tumultuous first season. As a part of that second vote of confidence, he was able to sign a few players he wanted such as Memphis Depay and Sergio Aguero.
He was also, reportedly able to say no. Sport reported that Koeman in fact said no to Cristian Romero and Renato Sanches.
Romero was seen as too much given the center-back depth Barcelona has. Specifically, Eric Garcia was the key back Koeman wanted, and he got him.
