Ghana internationals Kevin-Prince Boateng and Fatau Dauda have expressed their support for Mesut Ozil following his retirement from Germany national team.
The 2014 World Cup winner was part of Joachim Low’s squad that failed to make it past the group stage in Russia.
In addition to the country’s failure at the biggest football tournament, the Gunners midfielder has been heavily criticised for appearing in a picture with Turkey president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, alongside team-mate Ilkay Gundogan before their trip to Russia.
In response, Ozil issued a lengthy three-part statement on Sunday as he called time on his international career after making 92 appearances.
