Jorthy Mokio’s father has revealed why his son signed for Ajax despite interest from a host of other clubs including Barcelona.
The Catalans were said to be interested in Mokio, and held talks with the teenager, but he’s opted to head to the Eredivisie instead.
Mokio’s dad Thierry says the intense pressure and competition for places at Barcelona was the reason why the Catalans were turned down.
“Barcelona said: we are going to do like with Lamine Yamal, or Cubarsi. We spoke with Deco, the sporting director, because he would train with the first team.
