Neither the fearsome midfielder nor the quick forward will be able to help the United States in a semifinal against Argentina.
U.S. Soccer's appeal of cards issued to midfielder Jermaine Jones and forward Bobby Wood have been dismissed, meaning neither will be available for selection for Wednesday's semifinal against Argentina.
Jones was given a direct red card after making contact with an Ecuador player's face in the United States' quarterfinal victory over the South Americans. Minutes later, Wood was booked. As he also had been booked in the final group match against Paraguay, he is suspended for the next match.
