Japan begins their title defense at the Women's World Cup on Monday night against Switzerland at BC Place in Vancouver.
The match, which starts at 10 p.m. ET, features the surprise champions of the 2011 tournament and a bright upstart in search of making a big splash.
The big name on Japan's roster is Homare Sawa, who has 82 goals in 197 appearances, but her role may be smaller at this World Cup because she is now 36. Luckily for Japan, they possess seven other players on their roster who have found the back of the net on more than 10 occasions at the international level.
