James Rodriguez shows Benitez he's too good for the bench as Bale silences boo boys

The Colombian scored two superb goals and provided a wonderful assist to show that he has to be in the team every week as the Welshman also answered his critics on Saturday.

Both men had a point to prove. James Rodriguez was left out of the starting lineup by Rafa Benitez as Real Madrid drew at Sporting Gijon last weekend, while Gareth Bale was booed in his previous appearance at the Santiago Bernabeu. Both responded emphatically in this match.

Bale headed home after just 94 seconds to give Benitez the ideal start in his first competitive game at the Bernabeu, but the goal was all about Rodriguez as the Colombian curled a delightful cross into the Welshman's path.
