COPENHAGEN, Denmark (AP) International players from Denmark and Norway have criticized conditions in Qatar for migrant workers building projects linked to the 2022 World Cup.
A video published by FIFPro, the world players' union, opens with William Kvist and Tom Hogli - teammates at Danish champion FC Copenhagen - speaking of ''corruption allegations'' and ''modern slavery.''
Qatar is relying heavily on construction workers from south Asia who are tied to employers by the ''kafala'' system, which critics say encourages exploitation.
Hogli, a Norway defender, says ''working conditions in Qatar are cruel ... the football world cannot accept that.
