The Arsenal striker could have put France in front after being sent clean through on goal - but his worrying, and amusing, lack of speed proved to be his downfall
EXTRA TIME
It’s another night to forget for Olivier Giroud.
The Arsenal striker had the chance to France in front against Germany after being sent clear through on goal.
But a woeful lack of pace allowed Benedikt Howedes to catch up and rescue the situation with a last-ditch tackle.
Luckily for Giroud, France were given a somewhat fortunate penalty which Antoine Griezmann converted, while the Atletico Madrid star struck again in the second half.
