How Van Gaal has embraced Fellaini to bring balance to Manchester United

The Belgian battering ram, at last being used properly under David Moyes's successor, has added power and tenacity to the Dutchman's patient passing philosophy, says Ewan Roberts.

On his last visit to Goodison Park, Marouane Fellaini was spared the taunts of the home crowd, instead handed a watching brief by the less fortunate David Moyes. The Scot's 11 years at Everton were quickly forgotten on a miserable, jeer-filled afternoon, a 2-0 defeat the final nail in his Manchester United coffin. Fellaini, benched that day, was made a scapegoat for his manager's shortcomings, but he can expect a significantly more prominent role on Sunday.
