In February, the United States goalkeeper told reporters that she was unlikely to play in August's Olympic Games because of the threat of the Zika virus in Brazil. Many health officials have recommended that women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant avoid travel to Brazil or other Zika-affected areas, with the CDC finding a link between Zika and the birth defect microcephaly.
