The battle for the number one goalkeeper spot at Barcelona between Wojciech Szczesny and Iñaki Peña has dominated the news around the Blaugrana in recent days ever since the Pole started to play consistent minutes at the start of the year and looked for the most part pretty good between the sticks.
Szczesny is still clearly going through a period of adaptation to the team’s system and especially Flick’s high line which has led to some unfortunate mistakes, but his poise and experience to bounce back from those errors and make some big saves in big games seems to have given him the edge over Peña, who hasn’t exactly done anything to lose his job but has once again been relegated to a backup role at Barça.
