For a fourth consecutive time, the Red Bulls failed to hold on for a road win after taking the lead.
WASHINGTON — When the Red Bulls took a 2-0 lead in the second half against D.C. United on Sunday, it must have crept into their heads.
In each of the team's three previous road games, it had taken the lead, only for the opposition to come back and secure a draw. In two of those games, the Red Bulls let 2-0 advantages evaporate.
And so when Felipe Martins gave New York a 2-0 lead in the 64th minute, only to be followed up five minutes later by Kemar Lawrence conceding a penalty, those insecurities had to be even more pressing.
