Bayern Munich had called Hansi Flick about taking over as manager, and the coach even agreed to the proposal, before he ultimately signed with FC Barcelona instead.
According to Christian Falk on The Daily Briefing, Flick was on the verge of returning to manage the team he had guided to a famous treble.
On May 11th, Flick got a call from Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl. He had been instructed by the team’s higher-ups, Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, to reach out to Flick about becoming Bayern’s coach again.
He was reportedly promised the possibility of coaching Bayern for one year, and Flick agreed to the proposal.
