Bundesliga football club Hannover 96 have suspended three unnamed youth players after the trio admitted to the police that they had planned to rob a casino before having a change of heart, according to German outlet Bild (via Stephan Uersfeld of ESPN FC).
The players were "on their way to the venue in a car with a stolen number plate" and "were armed with gas pistols and balaclavas" before ultimately changing their minds, per Uersfeld's report. They were stopped by the police after aborting their heist.
It's unclear whether the police stopped the players for parking illegally, which Bild reported, or the police recognized that they were using stolen plates, as Spiegel Online reported (via Uersfeld).
