Club América and Tigres settled for a 1-1 draw at the Estadio Universitario on Saturday. Los Felinos were unable to take advantage of their home field days after having eliminated Las Águilas in the Semifinals of the Leagues Cup.
Pre-match, all eyes were set on Guillermo Ochoa, who was making his first start for Las Águilas since returning to Liga MX. But Ochoa’s presence took a backseat midway through the first half when Luis Quiñones scored from a tight angle to put Tigres in front.
Brimming with confidence, Quiñones nearly doubled the lead moments later after blasting the ball above Ochoa and into the crossbar.
