Great start for Wales

BORDEAUX -- Three quick thoughts on Wales 2-1 Slovakia in Group B at Euro 2016.

Bale and Wales up and running

Wales enjoyed good fortune. Both their goals might have been saved by hapless Slovakia goalkeeper Matus Kozacik, but Chris Coleman and co. will not mind. Substitute Hal Robson-Kanu's winner, a scuffed finish past Kozacik in the 81st minute, will surely be toasted with the finest wines of Bordeaux.

The Welsh national anthem's rendition before the match had been a genuinely spine-tingling moment. The hope was that Coleman's team could harness the emotion without getting carried away.
