Gold Cup: Herrera can put bandage over Mexico's summer wounds with win

It's been a poor summer for Mexican soccer, but a Gold Cup win would make things feel much better, writes Jon Arnold.

Mexican fans don't like finishing in last place, but that's actually where Mexico has found itself this summer in its three big tournaments.

The senior team was bounced from the Copa America after failing to beat Bolivia or Ecuador in the group phase. The Under-20 side, a level Mexico has long taken seriously, finished last in its group and failed to advance. The Women's World Cup team didn't help soccer fans forget their woes, also finishing last in the group following a tournament-opening draw against Colombia with losses to England and France.
