Arda Turan was born in the town of Fatih, in the Istambul province, Turkey. He started playing youth football at Altu0131ntepsi Makelspor at the age of twelve, but quickly moved to join the academy of Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray. There he quickly progressed through the youth ranks before making his first team debut against Bursaspor on 22 January 2005, eight days before his 18th birthday.
