Barcelona’s Gerard Pique almost purchased a football team this summer according to ESPN FC. The defender was apparently putting together a deal to purchase English club Notts County, a fifth tier English club.
The move would put Pique in the great situation of having more businesses away from Barcelona in his increasing portfolio. Some of Pique’s other business ventures include owning and overseeing the rise of FC Andorra from the fifth tier all the way to the top of the third tier of Spanish football.
Pique has done much of this under the portfolio of Kosmos Global Holding, which he started with Hiroshi Mikitani, founder of Barcelona sponsor Rakuten.
