One of the many youngsters who impressed in Barcelona’s preseason debut victory against Manchester City in Orlando, Florida was left-back Gerard Martín, who got his first taste of first team action and had a strong showing, both with and without the ball.
Martín isn’t a household name within Barça fans yet, but Hansi Flick’s coaching staff really likes the 22-year-old. According to Mundo Deportivo, Flick and his assistants appreciate Martín’s size and physical profile, his defensive instincts and his ability to deliver in the final third.
Barça haven’t yet gone into the market to sign a backup for Alejandro Balde, but they might not need to if Gerard continues to impress.
