MONROVIA, Liberia -- Opposition politician Darius Dillon has criticised George Weah's decision to award former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger his country's highest honour.
Liberian president Weah, who was elected last year, plans to give Wenger and another French football coach, Claude Le Roy, the Humane Order of African Redemption with the rank of Knight Grand Commander at a ceremony on Friday. They both played crucial roles in Weah's career.
But Dillon came out on Wednesday and said that Weah should not be using the nation's highest honor and the office of the president to recognise people who only played a role in his "personal life.
