With less than a week to go before Sunday's regular-season opener, the Galaxy waived defender Dan Gargan and forward Ignacio Maganto to get its roster closer to the 28-player Major League Soccer limit. At least one more transaction is likely in the coming days.
Gargan, 33, a 10-year MLS veteran, made 54 MLS appearances for the Galaxy since signing with the team ahead of the 2014 season. Overall Gargan, who proved to be a valuable role player on the back line, made 185 MLS appearances with the Colorado Rapids, Toronto FC, Chicago Fire, San Jose Earthquakes and Galaxy.
