Frenkie de Jong has put his slow start to the season behind, as he has recovered from a nasty injury and started playing a greater role for FC Barcelona.
So much so that the Dutchman could surpass Marc Casadó as the starter in midfield. Hansi Flick is said to be a big fan of De Jong, and he has always reportedly urged the management to keep him in the squad.
Now, the issue becomes his contract. It’s due to expire in 2026, and Barcelona would be very keen to renew his deal if he is a starter.
