France took an early lead over England in their Women's World Cup opener at Moncton Stadium through a superb strike from Eugenie Le Sommer in the 29th minute.

After England conceded possession, Le Sommer raced forward and took a vicious shot that beat England goalkeeper Karen Bardsley at the near post.
