Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique has revealed that he has been battling a brain tumour in recent weeks.
Enrique retired in September 2017, after a season with Real Zaragoza, having played for both Newcastle United and the Reds during his time in England.
However, he has recently taken an enforced absence from social media, and he has now announced that the reason for that is because he has been suffering with a brain tumour.
"Sorry I haven’t been around much, it has been the toughest few weeks of my life," he wrote.
