First candidates for Barcelona wonderkid appear as Benfica line up transfer offer

Even though Alex Grimaldo has a really bright future ahead of him, his future has nothing to do with Barcelona.

Just a few days after giving a strong interview blaming coach Luis Enrique for his potential departure from the Catalan club, the young full-back, who has been a target of Portuguese powerhouse Benfica for quite a few months, has now been approached by the Encarnados who are formally interested in signing the player for next season.

Since Grimaldo's contract with the Blaugrana ends next summer, he can sign with any team for free by July of 2016, and Benfica is one of the European contenders that want his services without spending a penny on a transfer fee.
