FIFA bans Napout and Hawit amid arrest scandal

Juan Angel Napout of CONMEBOL and CONCACAF's Alfredo Hawit have both been handed 90-day suspensions after they were arrested in dawn raids on Thursday.

FIFA’s ethics committee has banned two vice-presidents following yet more arrests by the U.S. authorities, a statement has confirmed.

Juan Angel Napout, the president of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) and Alfredo Hawit, the president of the North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF), were arrested in Zurich on Thursday.

They are both accused of accepting millions of dollars in bribes, and FIFA said that it would fully co-operate with the investigation.
