FC Dallas, New England look to find happier ending in USOC final

Both original MLS clubs, the U.S. Open Cup finalists hope their fortunes are different than other finals and they can add to their meager all-time trophy haul.

FRISCO, Texas — FC Dallas and the New England Revolution have a lot in common. Some of that is positive. Both are original MLS teams, owned by groups that also count NFL teams among their assets, are now coached by a beloved former player and are producing quality homegrown players.

On a less positive note, despite being in the league since its inception in 1996, both clubs have lifted a major trophy just once.
