Borussia Dortmund advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2015/16 DFB-Pokal with a 2-0 victory at FC Augsburg on Wednesday evening.
It was a meeting of two sides in very good form. The hosts had taken 10 points from their last four games in the Bundesliga and pulled off an almost miraculous 3-1 win over Partizan to advance in the UEFA Europa League earlier in December. Dortmund, meanwhile, came off a comfortable 4-1 win over Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.
Augsburg head coach Markus Weinzierl made four changes to his winning side from the weekend, with Paul Verhaegh, Konstantinos Stafylidis, Ji Dong-won and Jan Moravek playing instead of Markus Feulner, Philipp Max, Alexander Esswein and Caiuby.
