The 45-year-old stepped down as the Blancos head coach, five days after winning a third Champions League trophy in a row

Real Madrid defender Achraf Hakimi has paid tribute to Zinedine Zidane after the Frenchman announced his exit from the club.

Zidane confirmed his departure as the Spanish giants' coach in a surprise news conference that had the club's President Florentino Perez in attendance on Thursday.

Coming from Madrid’s academy, Hakimi broke into the first-team under Zidane in the 2017-18 campaign and managed a goal in 17 matches across all competitions.

The French tactician handed the Atlas Lions defender his Spanish LaLiga debut against Espanyol on October 1, 2017.
