Espinoza sidelined 10 weeks by foot injury

The Sporting Kansas City midfielder now faces a race against time in order to be fit for the MLS playoffs.

Sporting Kansas City will be without a key contributor as the club battles for playoff positioning in the Western Conference.

Midfielder Roger Espinoza told the Kansas City Star on Thursday he will be sidelined for 10 weeks after suffering a fractured bone in his left foot during Sporting KC's 1-1 draw with the Houston Dynamo on Saturday.

The 28-year-old, who said he was injured on a tackle from Houston midfielder Nathan Sturgis, has started 17 games this season.
