Egypt have appointed former Spain and Real Madrid defender Michel Salgado as assistant to new head coach Javier Aguirre.
The 42-year-old is already with the Pharaohs squad as they prepare for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at home against Niger on Saturday, according to AS.
Egypt lost their first qualifier 1-0 to Tunisia, and will be looking to bounce back following a dismal World Cup campaign, the departure of coach Hector Cuper and an ongoing rift between the football federation and star player Mohamed Salah.
Aguirre was appointed as Cuper's replacement on August 1, having previously managed Atletico Madrid, Real Zaragoza, Espanyol and Osasuna among others
Egypt legend Hany Ramzy will also assist the Mexican coach, with Spanish physical trainer Pol Lorente also joining up with the squad to work on the players' preparation.
