Dominican Republic captain Edison Azcona has issued an apology after being sent off against Spain for kicking out at Pau Cubarsi.
The two players both went for the ball and ended up on the turf. Azcona then inexplicably aimed a boot at Cubarsi and was handed his marching orders.
Azcona has now taken to social media with the following statement:
“I want to apologize to all the Dominican people and all those who are supporting us, I recognize that the mistake I made is unforgivable and if that were not done we would most likely get a very positive result.
