Curt Onalfo was succinct when asked what kind of shape the Galaxy is in for Saturday night’s Cali Classico, a match against the San Jose Earthquakes that is expected to draw a crowd of at least 50,000 in Stanford Stadium.
“We’re depleted,” the first-year coach said.
Giovani dos Santos, the Galaxy’s second-leading scorer, is in Russia, playing for Mexico in the Confederations Cup. Forward Gyasi Zardes is with the U.S. national team preparing for the Gold Cup.
Goalie Brian Rowe (groin) and midfielders Sebastian Lletget (broken bone in left foot) and Baggio Husidic (broken left fibula) are out.
