D.C. United concerned with fitness levels after slow start to MLS season

After a loss and two draws to start its league campaign, United rued its low fitness levels partially caused by a preseason cut short.

WASHINGTON — After an abbreviated preseason and a slow start to the regular season, D.C. United head coach Ben Olsen expressed his dismay at his team's fitness levels.

United could only draw 1-1 with the Colorado Rapids in the team's home opener Sunday, and is still looking for its first win of 2016 after a loss and two draws to start the MLS season.

"I think we can get fitter as a group – as a whole," Olsen said in his post-match news conference.
